5 FOODS TO LIMIT FOR FERTILITY

1 Red meat and poultry!

According to a study [1] a high consumption of animal proteins is linked to an increased risk of infertility, while vegetable proteins reduce ovarian infertility.

For your protein and iron intake, prefer beans, oilseeds (walnuts, cashews, etc.) and legumes (lentils, chickpeas, etc.), as well as fish or eggs.

2 Low-fat dairy products!

According to a study [2] the consumption of two whole dairy products a day would reduce infertility linked to ovulation problems by 27%. On the contrary, with light products this type of infertility would increase by 85%. In addition, low-fat dairy products would affect hormonal balance.

3 Foods containing trans fats

(mostly in processed foods), read the ingredient list and if you see "hydrogenated vegetable oils", steer clear! Do not ban fat, however, favor polyunsaturated fats (Omega 3 and omega 6) present in salmon, walnuts, rapeseed oil... [3]

4 Foods with a high glycemic index

(Refined sugars, white flour, potatoes, sodas...). Replace them with unrefined natural sugars (raw cane sugar, honey, maple syrup) and foods made from wholemeal flour.

5 Caffeine!

a study has shown that drinking just one cup of coffee a day can decrease your chances of conceiving a baby by 50% every cycle. [5]

Another study showed that those who drank caffeine, in the form of coffee, tea or soda, had a higher risk of waiting a year or more before successfully conceiving a child. [6]

Another study indicates that caffeine may harm women's fertility by relaxing muscle cells in the fallopian tubes, which carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. [7]
